Abstract
This study is the participatory research. The objectives of the researchwere: 1)
to study the capability of local villagers in Banlat community to inherit the heritage of
Muang Phetch palm culture 2) to study the cultural heritage of Muang Phetch palm
contributing to Banlat community, Banlat district, Phetchaburi province 3) to make a
plan about cultural heritage of Muang Phetch palm for a community in Banlat district,
Phetchaburi province through the participatory process 4) to study the results of the
plan. The key informants consisted of 15 mayors of municipality and district
administrative organization, 15 local experts, 36 palm sugar makers. The research
instruments were interview topics and participatory observation form. The data were
analyzed by using themethod of content analysis.
The research results revealed as follows:
1) The capability of local villagers in Banlat community to inherit Muang Phetch
palm culturewas found that in the past the palm sugar wasmade in every sub-district,
in Banlat district., but at this time the palm sugar was made in 16 out of 18 sub-
districts. The other two sub-districts, Banlat and Thasen, had the other kinds of local
wisdom about palm.
2) The cultural heritage of Muang Phetch palm contributing to Banlat
community, Banlat district, Phetchaburi province was as follows: 2.1) taking advantage
of Muang Phetch Palm worthily 2.2) developing local curriculum on Muang Phetch
palm 2.3) establishing career learning center about Muang Phetch palm 2.4)
organizingmodel community based onMuang Phetch palm 2.5) conducting researches
to create new palm products and to add the value on Muang Phetch palm products
2.6) raising fund for palm sugar makers
3) The plan to inherit Muang Phetch palm was made for Thamrong sub-
district, in Banlat district, Phetchaburi province through the participatory process
which consisted of 2 strategies: 1) to promote the handicraft of palm products and 2)
to promote the palm processing and to develop tour routes exploring culture of
Muang Phetch palm.
4) The results of the plan were as follows: 1) Banmuang-ngam palm- product
handicraft learning center was established in Thamrong sub-district, Banlat district,
