paphayom from Phatthalung provine and Amphur ranot from Songkhla provine. Folk Plays
Expressing Local Wisdoms including Geographical Characteristics, Religion, Beliefs andWay of
Life and Livelihood of such Particular Group of People. This research is a qualitative research
focally aimed 1) to study backgrounds of the folk plays virtually appearing in the area of Pak
PanangRiver Basin, 2) to conduct the study in order to find the way to promote and conserve the
folk plays virtually appearing in the area of Pak Panang River Basin. Instruments used in the
researchwere Primary Survey Forms, Interviewing Forms, Observation Forms andGroup Seminar
Forms. Data, documents and fielddatawere gathered. Fielddatawere obtained through the primary
surveys, interviewing, observations and group seminars from knowledgeable and general people in
number of 240 persons and operational people in number of 50 persons in the area of Pak Panang
River Basin during themonth of July 2011 andMarch 2012. Accuracy of the data was verified by
way of triangulationmethod and analyzed in accordance with the set purpose and that result of the
researchwas presented in amanner of a descriptive analysis.
Result of the research are as follows:
1. On the aspect of the background on the Folk PlayGroups, it is found, as a result of the
sampling group research, that there are 4 groups of PlengBok, 10 groups of Tarung, 10 groups of
Manorah
and 1 groupof Pengrue. The ages of theMaster/Owner of the groups range from 34 years
