The purpose of this Research is (1) To encourage the community participation and Cultural Network and
Community for Cultural Management. (2) To survey Klongsenten and Tambon Bankuan Communities opinions
about the traditional Muslim Wedding ritual in Satun province. (3) To know that both Communities still need
“Bersanding Ceremony” to be held as in the past or not. (4) To Analyse the cause and the factor of traditional
Muslim Wedding ritual has lost from Satun Muslim community. Group example are Klongsenten and Bankuan
communities of Muang District, Satun province. To collect datas by using questionnaires, interview and discuss.
For the data analysis we use the average from questionnaires, interview datas and discuss analysis essence and
present those datas in the type of expression.
Conclusion
(1) From the research we know that communities provide good cooperation. Not only giving details
of datas , but also sharing to collect and analyse datas for coordinating to get convenience in working . They
appreciate how the original local tradition is and understand cultural work well.
(2) The people in the communities hope for conserving, developing and diffusing the traditional
Muslim wedding ceremony as it shows the identity of the community and encourage the community members to
realize the importance of the traditional ceremony that their ancestors had followed and maintained. They also
hope for the society to place importance on this culture through arranging the activities or projects to encourage
people to pay attention to this traditional ceremony. They hope for diffusing the culture to other provinces or
foreigners, making local people proud of maintaining their own cultural identity.
(3) Majority of the people in both communities still need to hold “Bersanding Ceremony” although
it is not exciting for the bride and bridegroom at the first time they met, but in bright time of the wedding,
sometime the couples have the high impression for the good memory and it’s also to conserve tradition which
their ancestors do in the former time.
(4) At present, the wedding ritual has been followed in the community; though, the pattern of the
practice has been changed some as the religious leaders don’t agree with this ceremony. The reasons are that the
ceremony isn’t the requirement under Islamic Law and some practices of the ceremony are forbidden.
