Abstract
The main purposes of this study on the
accomplishments
of Mrs. Prakhin Xumsai
Na Ayudhya,
the 1993 notable national artist in the field of literary art (poetry) were four fold:
1) to study her bio-data and her literary works, 2) to study her inspiration in creating the works,
3) to identify her literary knowledge, and 4) to study the influence of her works. The objectives of
this research thus involved three area of study: 1) Mrs. Prakhin Xumsai Na Ayudhya ’s bio-
data and literary works, 2) an analysis and synthesis of her literary works, and 3) the
promotion of her literary works.
This study applied a qualitative approach of research. The primary data collected
included Mrs. Prakhin Xumsai Na Audhya’s poems and articles. Her life story was accumulated
from both related documents and a direct interview with her. The secondary data was gathered
from related documents and research work. The data was then both analyzed and synthesized.
The data is presented to the readers using designative research.
Concerning the National Artist’s bio-data, the study revealed that Mrs.Prakhin Xumsai
Na Ayudhya had a very happy and successful life. She had a happy family. Her parents came
from a well established educational background. She herself also had a good education that
led to her ability to create many distinguished literary works both In poetry and prose.
Besides her highly reputed literary works, her translations and editorial work are well
accepted and popular. It should be noted that Mrs. Prakhin Xumsai Na Audhya uses a diversity
of writing patterns which are appreciated by and have influenced other Thai writers.
The study on Mrs. Prakhin Xumsai Na Ayudhya’s literary works revealed that she has
used ‘Ujjeni’ as the pen name for her poetic works and ‘Nid Nararaks’ as the pen name for her
prose writings. These two pen names have produced many valuable literary works. Her literary
works have been accredited as highly creative in content and literary style of writing. The
language and words used in her works represent well-formed language, beautiful use of words
and perfect literary patterns of writing. Her works have impressed and moved all types of
readers ‘ imagination and ideas profoundly.
