5.1 Context of

From the study, the result shows that ritual tradition of pay homage to spirit
teacher of

in both Chiang Rai and Chiang Mai province is similar. There are
three types of ritual; 1) 9

inviting song to invite spirit teacher to come and receive an offering food. The melody
used in this ritual is always

time in order to get success in performance.

singing in Chaing Rai province can be classified into 3 types.

2) Couple so singing,called “so khu thong”, is an antiphonal singing
between a group of male or female or unisex singers. This type of
