This research aims to study the status, historical records, rite and the form of
Lakorn Chatri in Angthong Province. The process of this study was based on
document, field–work, observation including the interview of experts about Lakorn
Chatri in Angthong Province. The findings are as follow.
Lakorn Chatri in Angthong Province is the folk performance which came into
Angthong Province in Rattanagosin period. There were three significant groups which
consisted of Bangyeena group, Pamonk group and Thachang group in former times.
At present, there are 27 troupes which are educated from their ancestors. Lakron
Chatri is a popular entertainment with professional performers.
The rite of Lakorn Chatri consists of the rite performed before the
performance, the rite performed before the break of performance and the rite
performed after the performance. For instant, the overture
(
Hom Rong
), La rong,
paying homage or paying respect to teachers (
Wai Khru)
.
The form of Lakorn Chatri is combined of Lakorn nok, Lakorn Pantang and
Likay. Performer begins performing by King Character and uses the magic, animal
angel and specific weapons, etc. Mostly, Lakorn Chatri is performed in order to make
a votive offering. Moreover, Lakron Chatri can be devided into two characters which
are
Ram-Tee-Bod
and
Ram-Sad-Ta.
The stories are from the folklores , the writings
by the King including the Sa-Mud-Khoi. The stage of Lakorn Chatri is temporary
stage. The performance is accompanied by
Pi-phat band.
The songs which are
accompanied in the performance are Phleng hom rong, Phleng rumthawai mua,
Phleng na pat and general songs. The performers of Lakorn Chatri are dressed in the
classical costumes.
