The study of the development on cultural tourism model form Og Wa and Hae Tian
Heng festival in Mae Sariang, Mae Hong Son aims to study and finding of activities pattern
on Og Wa and Hae Thean Heng festival and decide activities pattern on Og Wa and Hae Tian
Heng for culture tourism support by research and develop and participatory action research
process.
The research found that Og Wa activities pattern was three dimensions:
1.
Foods are offered to hundreds of monks from all temples in Mae Sariang very
early in the morning (4 am). Give food offerings to a Buddhist monk on 3 days (before full
moon day, full moon day and after full moon day of the 11
th
(unar month around October)).
2.
Front yard decoration (the celebrated to welcome Buddha on his return from
giving sermons to his mother in heaven, according to the traditional belief). The Buddhist
houses are decorated with beautiful gates made of bamboo (Rajawat), banana trees, sugar
trees, and flags. Colorful lanterns and pine wood are also lit for decoration as well as for the
nice light.

Hae Tian Heng (A thousand candles procession), a thousand candles
procession or Hae Tian Heng in the Thai Yai dialect is held only in Mae Sariang after. A long
procession of a thousand candles, colorful flowers and other neccescary belongings for the
monks are paraded through the town streets and then offered to the temples in Mae Sariang.
In the procession, animal dances other cultural shows are also performed.
Development of an activity pattern to promote cultural tourism on Og Wa, Mae
Sariang, it is necessary to two times (noon and night) in “Seub Heat San Hoy Yon Roi Og
Wa”. At noon, know and skill by based learning. At night activity: exhibition area,
performance local show area and local product market area. The efficiency and effectiveness
evaluate satisfaction in of the activity pattern of three group study (committee, Mae Sariang
municipality population and tourist) three hundred questionnaires (win back two hundred
seventy four questionnaires (91.33%) showed that the people satisfied in the activity pattern
and this study can be used to make a plan of activities for cultural tourism in the future.
